About

Genie is a B2B SaaS platform that enables Shopify merchants to manage inventory, prevent stockouts, and optimize working capital. When I joined, the product had constructed a strong value proposition after pivoting in the last few months and was showing early signs of PMF. But all that was held together with duct tape: low prioritization, brittle workflows, and hours of manual toil for both merchants and our CX team.

My role

As Lead Product Manager, I owned the core product experience from end-to-end: strategy, roadmap, and execution. I partnered with design, engineering, customer experience, growth, and leadership to ship high-leverage features, establish product rituals, and make Genie a platform that merchants could grow on.

Challenge

Genie's early value proposition was clear, but the roadmap was reactive. New requests jumped to the front of the queue, internal tooling was fragile, and critical workflows, such as supplier imports, bundle mapping, and weekly health reports, were run manually via spreadsheets, costing the customer experience team over 10 hours each week and limiting the product's growth potential.

Solution

I introduced a lightweight problem-solving framework that funneled feedback into Notion databases for Roadmap, Feedback, and Ideas. I also established weekly decision rituals and a dual-track discovery process with a six-person squad comprising design and engineering teams. These processes enabled product solutions such as:

  • Shipping flagship high-impact features like Saved Views, Dashboard, Purchase Orders 2.0, Shipment Tracker, and Cashflow. Expanding core value, fuelling product-led growth, and lifting customer LTV.

  • Implementing a “No-brainer” UX that standardized workflows, highlighted important information, and diminished the learning curve, which in turn increased activation and retention.

  • Spearheading no-code automation in onboarding (supplier importing, excluded products, bundle mapping), slashing manual setup time, and boosting data accuracy.

  • Launching Genie on the Shopify App Store and sustaining ~20 % MoM user growth in the months that followed.

  • Guard-railing quality via rigorous QA/UX reviews, keeping Genie at a 5-star Shopify rating for 12 months post-launch.

Outcomes

  • 300+ live paying brands: From a few beta users to 86% of the customer base as paid subscribers with 20% MoM growth.

  • 5-star reputation: 5.0 rating across 21 public reviews on the Shopify App Store.

  • 80% lessen in customer experience workload: Lessened +2.5 h daily dedication to 30 min.

  • 370+ roadmap items shipped: While maintaining a 92 % on-time release rate while more than doubling sprint throughput.

  • Positioned Genie as a user-friendly, robust, merchant-focused inventory management engine.
